A Brief History:
The Green Room Lineage

I suppose it all started with plants.

Around 2016 - and in the doldrums of a divorce - I thought I might like myself better if I knew how to keep plants alive. If only it were that simple. It was rough. It took time, but I began to learn how to take better care of my leafy friends (and myself).

My collection of plants continued to grow. My supply of indoor plant containers dwindled. I realized that soil is a great plant container, and quickly graduated to outdoor gardening. Remembering how much I enjoyed ceramics classes in college, I promised myself that one day I’d get a pottery wheel of my very own and start making my own planters.

The moment eventually arrived in the spring of 2021. My partner and I bought our first home - a quirky, historical, two-story home - surrounded by green and overflowing with character. The house needed some love, despite how obvious the previous owners through the last century loved and cared for this sanctuary.

At first sight, I knew the dining room was a special place. Within the first two weeks, we painted its walls a calming, earthy shade of green. Because, you know. Plants. Not long after that, we became the caretakers of a china cabinet that was handed down through five generations of women in my partner’s family. And coincidentally, my mom-in-law remembers growing up around the china cabinet in what her family once called the “Green Room”.

Serendipity? Synchronicity? Who knows. But we now also call our green room the “Green Room”, where the china cabinet hangs out, along with us, our two cats, and our dog Daisy Mae. Our friends hang out there too when they come to visit (many of who happen to be musicians - which I think fits the name nicely too).

We haven’t lived here for long yet, but it feels like home and meant to be.

The pottery wheel I promised myself years ago now sits in a little workshop (not far from the china cabinet). I spend hours in there making beautiful things, letting my creativity flow, and feeling very thankful for what I get to do.
